The village belongs to the municipality Yerseke Reimerswaal in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located on the northeast coast of the peninsula Zuid- Beveland.

The local train station is located on the Zeeland Lijn, which runs from Roosendaal to Vlissingen.

In the village the late Gothic Evangelical Odulphuskirche of the 15th century.

Yerseke is known for its oyster and mussel farming. From the local auction, the " Zeeland mussels " sold throughout Europe. The mussel beds in the Oosterschelde were an important argument to run the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier as a movable weir.

In Yerseke is also the natural area of the Yerseke Moer. In this area, rest and breed numerous rare birds, including white-fronted geese, egrets, avocets, spoonbills and the curlew, on account of which the area enjoys special protection.
