Yevgeni Zimin

Yevgeny Vladimirovich Simin (in Russian Евгений Владимирович Зимин; born August 6, 1947 in Moscow ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and coach.

Career

For the season 1964/65, the striker began his career at HK Lokomotiv Moscow. In 1965 he moved to city rivals Spartak Moscow and HK remained here until 1974. Then moved for two seasons to SKA MWO Kalinin, before he spent his last season at Krylia Sovetov Moscow. In all, he scored 185 goals in 315 games in the Soviet league.

Simin was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On November 26, 1965, he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with the gold medals at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games and 1972. For the national team, he scored 27 goals in 71 internationals. The Ice Hockey World Championships, he was three times world champion with his team (1968, 1969 and 1971 ). He was inducted into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame" in 1968. On September 4, 1972 he played his last international match.

After finishing his sports career Simin worked as an assistant coach at Spartak Moscow. 1984 and 1985 he was head coach of this team.
