Yevhen Stankovych

Yevhen Stankowytsch (Ukrainian Євген Федорович Станкович, born September 19, 1942 in Svalyava ) is a Ukrainian composer.

Life

Stankowytsch studied at the Conservatory of Lviv and at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. Since 1998 he has been a professor there. He wrote, among other twelve symphonies, five ballets, an opera and instrumental concertos and chamber music. His Symphony № 3 was chosen by UNESCO as one of the ten best works of 1985.
