History

The development of a city car with hybrid drive was initiated by the Russian-Belarusian holding company " Yarovit engine " and later presented to the entrepreneur and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. A collaboration between " Yarovit engine " and Mikhail Prokhorov began earlier, in 2004 special vice of " Yarovit " were used in Norilsk Nickel, whose partner he was.

Project Development

In the first performance on 12 April 2010, the Russian investment group " Onexim " and " Yarovit engine " declared the start of the project for the city car with hybrid drive. They founded the new company " Gorodskoj Avtomobil ' ", stick to the 51% and 49% of the Onexim the Yarovit Motors shares. The development budget to the start of series production amounted to 150 million euros.

On October 12, the new car was presented. Two models have been shown having four seats, and are based on the same platform. The first model is a hatchback for the family, the second model, a cross -coupé, is aimed at young people.

The design of the exterior and interior comes from the Designer Andrej Trofimchuk. The Belarusian designer Vladimir Cesler proposed the two -tone paint, following on from an earlier project of the company "Russian Awtomobilnyj Disajn " (translated: Russian automotive design ). It is the color of ivory remain unchanged, while the second color is variable. The design aims to establish itself as a stylistic mark of the producer and at the same time symbolize the hybrid concept.

The name for the car was a variety of choices in a competition "So I call the city car " on 9 November 2010 selected and published, as is the brand logo which come as the name of Cesler.

Three working prototypes of hybrid cars were presented as planned on 13 December 2010 - ё minivans, vans and ё ё cross -coupé. For presentation purposes we mounted the bodies in a simple steel frame and used two-cylinder four -stroke engines of the type MPE750 from the German manufacturer Weber to the drive.

In September 2012, it was announced that the project is delayed due to delays at a supplier for two years.

Production Planning

On 15 February 2011 the construction of a first plant near the place Marjino in Leningrad Oblast was announced. The capacity of the plant should be 10,000-20,000 cars a year, with the possibility to increase the capacity to 40,000-50,000 later. In the future will be created five additional plants throughout Russia. In addition, the construction of a factory is planned for the production of individual components in order to ensure the supply of up to 100,000 cars per year with spare parts.

Design change

On 21 February 2011, an optimized version of the " ё cross- coupe " was introduced which took into account the wishes of visitors from ё - mobile exhibitions. The main focus of the body changes is on the Comfort: You kept the wheelbase of the car in, but made a five-seater with five doors from it, although it remains in the term " coupe ". The front seats were, displaced due to the shortened hood to the front and rear banks, thanks to the higher roof to the rear. Thus, more seating space was created. The boot space has been increased to 450 l (formerly 400 l); when the rear seat is folded down, it increases to 1100 L. The slight change in the body has little effect on the dimensions: Length: 4100 mm (old: 4065 mm), height: 1550 mm (old: 1495 mm ) Ground clearance: 210 mm (previously 200 mm). The overhang angle has changed significantly forward of 20 ° to 27 ° and back from 28 ° to 30 °.

A survey in the developer blog " ё -Avto " showed that the majority welcomed the changes.

Technology

The car will be built in the three above -mentioned body versions. As a fuel gas can be used gas (methane or a mixture of propane and butane). As the main energy source is a permanently running rotary piston engine which drives the electric generator. The energy produced is stored in a super capacitor ( supercap ) and the two electric motors - one for each axis - led that drive utilizes a differential gear wheels, which ensures a permanent all-wheel drive and thus good traction even in poor road or weather conditions. All electrical units are controlled by a custom-designed computer system, which provides for a short cable connections. The dashboard is provided with an electronic display and a touch screen.

Detailed technical characteristics

All models include the following features (as of December 14, 2010 ) are provided:

  • Body polypropylene composite
  • Propulsion: one with an electric generator coupled rotary engine with an output of 45 kW/60 hp ( in Moscow, the vehicles are exempt with such power from the control ). As fuel gasoline can be used together with compressed or liquefied natural gas, or only one * of the fuel types. For the variant with Druck-/Flüssig-Erdgas compliance with the Euro 5 standard is specified.
  • Electric drive with a permanent four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive *; there ever a brushless DC motor with 15 kW/20, 5 hp be attached per drive axle. For driving a system for recovering energy during braking, belongs to, with the help of the supercapacitor.
  • Range on a full tank of the engine up to 1100 km, up to 2 km with energy from the capacitor
  • Fuel tank capacity: 20 l (gasoline) and 14 m³ of compressed natural gas or 20 l propane mixture Bhutan

Special features of the ë mobile home and the overall project

  • The number of parts and aggregates are expected to radically reduced ( 2 to 2.5 times less than in a conventional contemporary car)
  • Modular construction consisting of 400 interchangeable modules, allowing easy manufacture, service and repair of cars. Furthermore is achieved a lighter adaptation to future developments and innovative to the individual requirements of the owner.
  • At the beginning of a body of a spatial developments aluminum frame, combined with body parts made of basalt fibers was planned, but later it was decided in favor of a supporting structure made of composite material based on polypropylene. The developers talk primarily about far better strength properties and resistance to cold than is the case with metals; here are the manufacturing costs to be much lower, which is connected with the peculiarities of the production process from the gas commodities. In November 2010, the implementation of a crash testing was planned by one of the European agencies. The work on the body is carried out by the company Magna, the project developer. It is also stated that the body will meet all European requirements concerning the passive safety of the occupants. This will be achieved primarily through the honeycomb design of the parts and through the support structure of the body, which will ensure that the energy is absorbed and dampened in a crash of the whole body. The repair ability of such a solution is not highly valued ( after a serious injury, it might be necessary to replace the whole body ), although this circumstance fits completely into the concept of construction and repair of an existing module from the vehicle. The individual modules will be made to order by the manufacturer and installed by the service centers.
  • For the storage of energy a unit of 100kg super capacitors is used, which finds its place under the rear bench seat. To fully charge the unit should take about ten minutes.
  • The electronic seal off the top speed at 130 km / h explain the developer with the desire to minimize the number of fatal road accidents. They also expect that this limitation may be regulated by law in many places soon.
  • Service intervals: 40,000 km
  • Life of the engine: 1 one million kilometers
  • Price: 350000-450000 rubles (about 9000-11500 € )
  • The production of the vehicles will take place in the domestic mini- plants with the annual capacity of 10,000 cars.
  • The Euro 5 standard will be achieved, that the burning of the fuel in the Toroidalkammer of the engine where the pistons, is not accompanied by oil inflow. The combustion occurs so "dry". The concept of the proposed rotary engine provides a possibility of " smooth " rotation, thereby interact with the oil cooled in the interior surface of the precision piston to the combustion chamber by means of temperature-resistant fluoropolymer of rings.
