Yonghe District

Yonghe, also Yungho (Chinese永和 区, pinyin Yǒnghé Qū, W.-G. Yung -ho Chü, PEH oē - jī ENG hô ) is a district (区, QUI ) of the city of New Taipei in northern Taiwan with about 235,000 inhabitants ( 2010). It is located southwest of Taipei.

Location

Yonghe located in the southern part of the Taipei Basin. In the north and east of the Xindian River forms the border with Taipei. Three road bridges will connect the capital of Taiwan. In addition, Yonghe is connected through the orange Zhonghe Line to the U- Bahn network of Taipei.

Almost the entire area is densely built-up, mostly with apartment complexes. The largest green areas are located along the banks of the Xindian River and Renai Park in the northwest.

History

By 1958, Yonghe was part of the southern neighboring district Zhonghe, who was originally a rural community (乡, Xiang ) and 1946 about 30,000 inhabitants counted. Due to the proximity to Taipei, the population grew rapidly, so Yonghe 1958 an independent township (镇, zhen ) was. In 1979 it became the city (市, Shì ) promoted. On 25 December 2010, the city lost its autonomy and Yonghe was incorporated as a borough in the newly founded city of New Taipei.
