Yotsuba&!

Yotsuba &! (Japaneseよつばと!, Yotsuba to!, dt " Yotsuba and / with ...! ") is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Kiyohiko Azuma ( Azumanga Daioh, among other things ). Azumanga Daioh is in contrast to Yotsuba &! not a collection of Yonkoma comic strip, but has a continuous narrative. The manga tells episodic from the everyday life of a little girl named Yotsuba.

Action

The small Yotsuba (よつば) pulls together with her father, Mr. Koiwai (小 岩 井) in the city. She is a very aufgewecktes, curious, strange and happy child aged 5 years and even her single father who has adopted the little girl, she calls crazy. She also knows about the simplest things that kids are supposed to already know at that age, not notice, for example, about doorbells and escalators. Even a swing on the playground she does not know. Your new neighbors, the Ayase family with three sisters: the student Asagi Ayase (綾瀬 あさぎ), the 16 -year-old Fuuka Ayase (绫 瀬 风 香), and the fourth year Ena Ayase (绫 瀬 恵 那). With her ​​father, the Ayase sisters and Mr. Koiwais buddy and 2.10 m wide Takashi "Jumbo" Takeda (ジャンボ,竹田 隆) and Enas girlfriend Miura Hayasaka (早坂 みうら) they experienced everyday adventures.

Publications

Yotsuba to! appears in Japan since March 2003 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Dengeki Comic Daio. The Media Works Publishing published this single chapter in so far twelve anthologies. These have been sold by March 2013 more than ten million copies.

In Germany the manga since March 2007 published by Tokyopop in twelve volumes to date.

The manga was transferred to the United States (with ADV Manga), but discontinued after five volumes. After Yen Press acquired the license, put the first 5 volumes on new and published simultaneously with the 6th volume.

Awards

The manga won on the Japan Media Arts Festival 2006 Award for Excellence and was nominated for the 2008 Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, but had to concede defeat Masayuki Ishikawa's Moyashimon.
