Youcef Yousfi

Youcef Yousfi ( born October 2, 1941 in Batna ) is an Algerian politician.

Life

Yousfi studied at the École nationale supérieure des Industries chimiques Nancy in physics and business administration. In Algiers, he worked as a university teacher. In the late 1970s he became Vice President of Sonatrach, which he chaired in 1985. In 1997 he became the first Minister of Petroleum and Energy in Algeria and moved as a deputy to the National People's Assembly. He became president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries in 1999. From 2006 to 2008 he was the representative of the Government of Algeria to the United Nations. Since 2010 he has been Minister of Energy and Mines of Algeria. Yousfi is married and has three children.
