Young Knives

The Young Knives are an English indie rock band from Ashby -de- la- Zouch, Leicestershire, UK.

Band History

The band was founded in 1997 by Henry Dartnall (vocals, guitar), his brother Thomas ( vocals, bass ) also known as "The House of Lords " and Oliver Askew (drums, background vocals ). At first they called themselves Simple Pastoral Existence and Pony Club. Because of the same name with another musician they had to rename but again and changed before their first publication the band name to The Young Knives. Originally, the trio from North West Leicestershire, but moved in 2002 to Oxford. At the Truck Festival, they were discovered by the label Shifty Disco and they released there in the same year, the short album, The Young Knives ... Are Dead with seven songs. In the following years, followed by two EPs and joint performances with established bands like The Futureheads and Hot Hot Heat.

Finally, they were taken by Warner under contract and in 2006 released their debut single Here Comes the Rumour Mill this song reached as well as She's Attracted To and Weekends and Bleak Days the Top 40 on the British charts. The debut album Voices of Animals and Men with three hits took place in September of this year 21 of the album charts. In addition there were the Young Knives also at South by Southwest in Austin / Texas, and was released in 2007 the album in the U.S.. The following year, the second - Warner Superabundance LP was released and she was as successful as the debut. She brought them two more chart hits.

Until next album, it took three years. However, Ornaments from the Silver Arcade could not build on the previous successes and missed the Top 75
