Yuengling

DG Yuengling & Son, widely also known simply as Yuengling is the oldest still existing brewery in the United States. It was founded in 1829 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania and is of volume one of the largest breweries in the country.

History

The German youth wandered David G. 1823 Aldingen ( today part of Remseck ) from the United States. He anglicized his last name to Yuengling and founded in 1829 the "Eagle Brewery " in Pottsville. As a young man in 1873 son Frederick went into the brewery, the name to " D. was However, G. Yuengling and Son " changed, the bald eagle was retained as a logo. In the late 19th century breweries in Saratoga, New York City and Trail were established in British Columbia. Due to the fast-growing original brewery in Pottsville, the other brewers were finally abandoned and concentrated in production at Pottsville.

During alcohol prohibition in the United States, the brewery survived due to the sale of small beer, a dairy, ice-cream produced and dance halls in Philadelphia and New York City. On the day of the repeal of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the then President Roosevelt received a truckload of beer from Yuengling recognition - although Yuengling beer normally required to produce three weeks.

In the 1970s and Yuengling suffered from the rise of the commercially successful and US-wide large breweries. Claims to Yuengling survived due to the strong demand in Heimatcounty Schuylkill.

Today, Yuengling operates alongside breweries in Pottsville, since 2000 in Port Carbon, and a third in Tampa, Florida. Yuenglings markets include the entire east coast, ranging as far west as Ohio.

Products

Yuenglings annual output is 1.2 million barrels, which ranged across the U.S. to sixth place in 2005. The main outlet is achieved with the "Traditional camp", further still in production Porter, Pilsner and Ale.
