Yugoslavia national under-21 football team

The Yugoslav U-21 national football team was a national team of Yugoslav football player. They defeated the Fudbalski Savez Jugoslavije and represented him at the U-21 level, in friendly matches against the national teams of other national associations, but also at the European Championships of the continental federation UEFA. Eligible to play were players who had not yet completed her 21 years and the Yugoslav nationality possessed. In tournaments, the age at first qualifier is relevant.

History

Yugoslavia succeeded at the third attempt, in 1976, with the U-23 national team to participate in a U-23 European Championship, but they bowed out prematurely. After the realignment of youth football competitions UEFA 1976 Yugoslavia decided to starting your own U-21 national team. In fact, however, all U-21 national teams U-23 teams as the players at the start of the qualification - ie two years before the tournament starts - must be 21 years old or younger. In the first U21 European Championship Yugoslavia succeeded equal to the first triumph. On this success, the team was not able until its dissolution. Although it is still followed by a finals (1990 ) and two semi-final appearances (1980 and 1984 ), but not qualified to be equal to four times for the finals (1982, 1986, 1988 and 1992).
