YÅ«ko Obuchi

Yuko Obuchi (Japanese小 渕 优 子, Obuchi Yuko, born December 11, 1973 in Bunkyō, Tokyo Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP), Member of the Shūgiin, of the House, for the fifth constituency Gunma and former Minister. In the LDP it belongs to Nukaga faction.

Life

Obuchi is the third child of the LDP politician and Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi. After her studies in economics at the Seijo University, graduating in 1996, she worked for the TV Tōkyō Hoso (TBS ). From 1999, she worked in her father's office while this was prime minister.

After the death of her father, she successfully ran in the election on June 25, 2000 in the 5th electoral district for the seat in Gunma Shūgiin. There, she led among other things the Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Special Committee on Okinawa and Northern Areas. From 2006 to 2007 she was Secretary of State ( seimukan ) in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

From September 2008 to September 2009 under Prime Minister Obuchi was Taro Aso, Minister of State for combating the falling birth rate and gender equality in his first Cabinet. With 34 years she was the youngest Minister of State in postwar history when he took office.

From December 2012 to September 2013 was Obuchi Secretary of State ( fuku - daijin ) in the Ministry of Finance and therefore belongs to the second cabinet of Prime Minister Abe to. It was then chairman of the Culture and Science Committee in Shūgiin.
