Yuli Ofer

Yuli Ofer (* 1924 in Galaţi, Romania; † 1 September 2011 in Herzliya, Israel) was an Israeli entrepreneur.

Life

The parents of Ofer immigrated from Romania to Israel, as Ofer was six months old. The family lived in Haifa. Ofer co-founded with his brother Sammy Ofer in the 1950s, the company Ofer Brothers Group, which specializes in shipbuilding, real estate and tourism, and later took over the company Israel Corporation and Royal Caribbean.

Together with his brother Sammy Ofer he belonged, according to the U.S. Forbes magazine as the richest Israelis and in 2005 was listed in The World's Billionaires. He owned a collection of paintings of impressionist and modern art in particular among other things, by Marc Chagall. Ofer was married, had two children and lived in Israel and Monte Carlo.
