Yunus-bek Yevkurov

Yunus- bek Yevkurov Bamatgirejewitsch (Russian Юнус - бек Баматгиреевич Евкуров, born July 29, 1963 in Tarskoje, North Ossetia ) is since 31 October 2008 President of the autonomous Russian republic of Ingushetia and Major General of the Russian army.

Life

After attending school in Beslan and Malgobek Yevkurov served since 1982 in the Soviet army and later hit an officer's career. He studied at the paratroopers Institute in Ryazan ( completion 1989), the Military Academy of the Russian Armed Forces ( 1997) and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces ( 2004).

He took part in the Chechen wars and the use of the Russian contingent in SFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a commander.

On 30 October 2008 Yevkurov was used after the resignation of Murat Zyazikov by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev as President of the Republic of Ingushetia, and elected president of the Ingush Parliament the next day.

On 22 June 2009, Yunus - bek Yevkurov was seriously injured in an attack on his convoy. Yevkurov was in a serious condition, but is out of danger, said a presidential spokesman. Four bodyguards and his driver were killed, injured other people.
