Yuri Boukoff

Yuri Bukow (also Youri Boukoff; Bulgarian Юри Буков; born May 1, 1923 in Sofia, Bulgaria; † January 8, 2006 in Paris, France) was a Bulgarian pianist.

Life

Bukow was born on 1 May 1923 in Sofia. At the age of 15 he received his first international award and a scholarship from the Conservatoire de Paris, where he became a pupil of Yves Nat. He learned in the 1940s, major artists like the orchestra leader George Enescu, and the pianist Edwin Fischer and Marguerite Long know. He was the first European pianist of a tour made ​​by China. In the last years of his life Bukow drew largely from the public.
