Yuri Fedorov

Yuri Ivanovich Fedorov (Russian Юрий Иванович Фёдоров; born June 8, 1949 in Ulyanovsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player.

Career

During his Soviet period the defender played for Torpedo Gorky. In total he scored 102 goals in 589 games in the Soviet league. He was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team early on. On September 11, 1974, he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with several gold medals at the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1975 and 1978. For the national team, he scored 4 goals in 38 internationals. On April 2, 1979 he played his last international match. In 1978 he was honored with induction into the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame".
