Yuri Ovchinnikov (biochemist)

Yuri Ovchinnikov Anatoljevich (Russian Юрий Анатольевич Овчинников; born August 2, 1934 in Moscow, † February 17, 1988 same place ) was a Soviet biochemist.

He conducted research in the field of biological weapons.

Yuri Ovchinnikov received his doctorate in 1961 and his habilitation in 1966. In 1970 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and in 1972 professor at the Moscow State University. In 1973 he became a member of the Leopoldina.
