Yuri Ivanovich Onufrienko (Russian Юрий Иванович Онуфриенко, scientific transliteration Yuri Ivanovich Onufrienko; born February 6, 1961 in Ryasnoe, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Russian cosmonaut of Ukrainian descent.

Onufrienko ended 1982, the University of pilots of the Air Force "WM Komarov " in Jeisk with a pilot - engineer diploma. After that, he served until his admission to the cosmonaut corps in the Soviet Air Force. He has accumulated more than 800 flight hours in a wide variety of aircraft such as Aero L -29, Sukhoi Su -7, Sukhoi Su -17 ( M1 -4) and Aero L -39.

As a potential cosmonaut In 1989 he was selected. In 1994, Onufrienko a degree in cartography at the Moscow State University.

In October 1996 Onufrienko was awarded by a decree of the then Russian President, Boris Yeltsin, the award Hero of the Russian Federation.
