Yuthog Yontan Gonpo

Yuthog Nyingma Yönten Gönpo ( Tib: g.yu thog rnying ma po yon tan mgon; * 708, † 833; " Yuthog Yönten Gönpo the Elder " ) was the founder of the first Institute of Tibetan medicine in Tibet, Samye Monastery monk and scholar of Tibetan Buddhism.

Life

Yuthog Nyingma Yönten Gönpo served in the Tibetan monarchy among other things, the personal physician of the Thrisong Detsen.

As his most important work applies the Gyüshi ( Tib: rgyud bzhi; "Four Tantras "), which is considered the main work of the early Tibetan medicine and represents a synthesis of his then-known medical knowledge systems. Based on the writings of the Nyingma Yuthog Yönten Gönpo wrote Yuthog Sarma Yönten Gönpo ( Tib: g.yu thog gsar ma po yon tan mgon; 1126-1202 ), today's version of the famous as fundamental work of Tibetan medicine Gyüshi, which in the 17th century was first illustrated for training purposes by Desi Sanggye Gyatsho.
