Yvonne Useldinger

Yvonne Useldinger ( born Hostert; born November 6, 1921 in Stone Fort, † February 11, 2009 in Esch- sur -Alzette ) was a Luxembourgian politician (KPL ), Frauenfunktionärin and resistance fighter against National Socialism.

Life

Useldinger grew up in Differdange and joined in 1937 the Socialist youth. In 1938 she became a member of the Communist Party of Luxembourg (KPL ). In 1940, she married Arthur Useldinger, one of the leading figures in the KPL and resistance in Luxembourg. In 1941, she was arrested by the Gestapo for the first time, due to lack of evidence they had, however, be released. A year later she was - now pregnant - with her parents Alphonsus and Catherine Hostert and her brother Walter arrested again. Her daughter, Fernande came in the police prison Trier to the world. End of June 1943, she was deported to Ravensbruck concentration camp, where she illegal warehouse organization belonged later.

Her father came over the SS special camp at Hinzert the Mauthausen concentration camp, her brother the Dachau concentration camp. Alone, her mother was released from prison and participated in the care of her little grandchild.

Yvonne Useldinger was placed in a built directly from the Siemens Group in nearby subcamp in December 1944 from the Ravensbrück concentration camp. After the liberation of Ravensbruck concentration camp by the Red Army, it was late April 1945 by the Swedish Red Cross evacuated to Sweden (action " Bernadotte "). A short time later, she returned to Luxembourg.

Here it belonged in 1945 to the co-founder of the Women's Association Union des Femmes Luxembourgeoises ( UFL ), chaired should they take over later.

In her diary is one of the few original documents rescued from the concentration camp Ravensbrück.
