Zaborowo, Gmina Janowiec Kościelny

Zaborowo [ zabɔrɔvɔ ] ( German: Saberau ) is a town in the municipality Janowiec Kościelny in Poland. It is located 7 km southwest of the city Nidzica ( Neidenburg ) and belongs to the powiat Nidzicki in the Warmia - Mazury.

History

The first documentary mention of the place is dated December 14, 1423rd The village belonged until 1945 to the district Neidenburg in East Prussia.

A church existed in the village before the Reformation. The village was then the center of an evangelical church game. To this were also the places Bartkenguth, Gorrau, Pilgramsdorf, Powiersen, Salle 's, Schiemanen, Skudayen and Wasienen.

Saberau was captured on 20 January 1945 by Soviet troops. From 1975 to 1998, the city was part of the voivodeship Olsztyn.
