The municipality of Zagora Mouresi (Greek Ζαγορά - Μουρέσι ) on the Greek peninsula of Pelion in Thessaly region was formed on 1 January 2011 from the merger of 1997 established townships Zagora and Mouresi. This form since municipal districts ( Ez gr Dimotiki enotita ), the municipalities of the period before 1997 form villages ( Zagora as Dimotiki kinotita, the other as topiki kinotita ), choose their own local representatives.

Geography

Zagora Mouresi is located in the northern part of the Pelion peninsula, on the eastern slopes of Mount Pelion ( Πήλιο ), which gave the peninsula the name and whose highest peak, the Pourianos Stavros ( Πουριανός Σταυρός, 1,624 m above sea level. Inst ) above the village Pouri rises. The municipality falls east to the Aegean sea relatively steeply, yet there are four long sandy beaches along the 20 km of coastline. The bordering north coast community is Keramidi, in the south bordered Zagora to the community Mouresi. On the western slopes of Pelion limits ( from north to south ) the communities Karla, Makrinitsa, Implementing Order and Agria the city area.

Zagora is divided into two municipal districts, which correspond to the former municipalities by 2011. These are divided ( population figures from the 2001 census ) in towns and settlements.
