Žalkovice

Žalkovice ( German savers Schukowitzgasse, 1939-1945 scarf Schukowitzgasse ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers north of Kroměříž and belongs to Okres Kroměříž.

Geography

Žalkovice is located on the left bank of the river Moštěnka in the Upper Moravian Valley ( Hornomoravský úval ). South of the village flows the brook Rumza. One and a half kilometers east of the railway line leads Přerov - past Břeclav, behind the highway D runs first

Neighboring towns are Záhatí, Lověšice and Horni Moštěnice in the north, Říkovice and Stara Ves in the northeast, Kostelec u Holešova and Němčice in the east, Rymice and Pravčice the southeast, Břest and Skaštice in the south, Plešovec, Hrad and Chropyně the southwest, Kyselovice in the west and Polňák, Kanovsko and Vlkoš in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Schucowicz took place in 1221, when Margrave Vladislav Henry belonging to the sovereign's castle Přerov village presented the monastery Velehrad. In 1248 the site was designated as Svcowiz or Sucowiz, 1253 and 1265 as Sukowitz as Zucowiz. The Cistercian Monastery sold the villages Žalkovice, Břest and Plešovec 1397 for 450 Scherf at Lacek of Krawarn on Helfenstein. Other owners belonged in 1500 January Kuna of Kunštát. In his son Wilhelm Kuna, the village in 1530 gave to Wenzel von Ludanitz followed. This closed Žalkovice to his reign Chropyně. Other forms of the name were Zaukowicz ( 1506), Zukowicz ( 1513), Zuokowicz ( 1516), Zulkowicze ( 1523), Zalkowicz ( 1526), Zialkowicz ( 1580) and Zialkowicze (1590). In 1615, Cardinal Franz Seraph von Dietrich Stein purchased the domain and replaced it with the Diocese of Olomouc Zdar against the rule. At this time the village consisted of 50 economies, including 13 Halbhüfnerstellen. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was deserted. 1667 were from the 44 properties, nine desolate. In 1750, consisted of 30 Zialkowicz Halbhüfnern, 20 and 24 Podsedeken Chalupnern. The inhabitants lived mainly from agriculture, and there were eight Weber, three cobbler, a blacksmith and a butcher. Built in 1830 in Zialkowicz one of the first community libraries in Moravia. Until the mid- 19th century, the village of episcopal rule Chropyně remained submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Žálkowice / prosecuted ex Schukowitzgasse formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Kremsier. Today's local name Žalkovice is used since 1872. Between 1902 and 1903 the Moštěnka was regulated. In 1910, the river rose again over the banks and flooded the village. At the time, Žalkovice of 110 houses and had about 700 inhabitants. Ethnographic the village belongs to Hanna.
