The Zamboanga airport (English: Zamboanga Airport ) is the international airport of Zamboanga City in the Philippines.

Location and Directions

The airport is located about two kilometers northwest of Zamboanga.

The Tower ( TWR ) sends and receives on the frequency: 123.5 MHz and 118.1 MHz. The airport has several navigation aids. The start and runway 09/27 has an instrument landing system (ILS ). The omnidirectional radio range (VOR) transmits on frequency: 113.9 MHz with code ZAM. A distance measuring equipment (DME ) is available. The local magnetic declination is 0 ° (as of 2006).

Incidents

On May 23, 1976, a BAC One-Eleven 527FK was kidnapped on the way from Davao to Manila from Muslim terrorists and forced to land in Zamboanga. At the storming of the aircraft ten passengers and three hijackers were killed. In this case, the aircraft was causing irreparable damage. Three other hijackers were sentenced to death.
