Zaragoza-Delicias railway station

The Delicias train station in the Spanish city of Zaragoza is a combined railway and bus station. The station was planned by the architect Carlos Ferrater, José María Valero and Félix Arranz and the engineer Juan Broseta. It is located west of the city on lowered tracks that carry the station in an easterly direction in tunnels under the city and westward lead to the daylight, where there is a junction between several railway lines and a Umspuranlage that allows a suitable rolling stock of broad gauge - to switch to standard gauge tracks. The station was opened in 2003 with the commissioning of the first phase of construction of the high speed line Madrid-Barcelona/Huesca and replaced since the central railway station El Portillo. The station is home to tracks of different gauges, still partially unused railway tracks, which are intended for a future subway, the second stage of the S -Bahn Zaragoza and planned high-speed lines. The full use of the station is planned for the year 2015. Next station is located in a separate mainline and local area. For access to remote platforms, there is a baggage check at airports such as mandatory, which has been introduced in Spain as a consequence of the attacks on 11 March 2004. The train station is 600 m long and 80 m wide and consists of three levels. On the ground floor there is a shopping center, ticket office, and access control. The middle level is the access to the tracks. Below are several island platforms and in final use eight tracks. The bus station is located in a side building.
