Žarko Puhovski

Zarko Puhovski (born 15 December 1946 in Zagreb) is Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Zagreb.

Life

Zarko Puhovski studied in Zagreb physics and political science and philosophy in Frankfurt. He was in 1973/74 Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb and belonged to the practice squad. Since 1975 he is Professor of Political Science (focus: Political philosophy) at the University of Zagreb.

In 1988, he was among the founders of the first independent political organization of Yugoslavia, the Udruženje za Jugoslovensku demokratsku inicijativu ( UJDI, Association for a Yugoslav Democratic Initiative). From 2000 to 2007 he was president of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights.
