Zdeněk Ščasný

Zdeněk Ščasný ( born August 9, 1957 in Brno, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach.

Playing career

Zdeněk Ščasný played in his youth for Spartak Roudnice. At age 17, he joined Dukla Prague, where he spent the next four years and debuted in the top Czechoslovak league. In 1979 the defender to Sparta Prague, where he remained until 1985. 1980 won Ščasný with Sparta the Czechoslovak Cup, 1985 the Czechoslovak championship. In the season 1983/84 Sparta won the league and cup double.

Early 1985 moved Zdeněk Ščasný again within Prague and joined Bohemians, for which he played 56 games in four and a half seasons. Zdeněk Ščasný went in 1989 to the then second division Agro Slušovice, his career he trailed off from 1991 to 1993 at the Cypriot club Anagennisis Derynia.

Coaching career

In Derynia Zdeněk Ščasný initially looked after the youth, later he was player-manager of the first team. After his return to the Czech Republic in 1993 he was player-coach for two years at SK Roudnice before he finally ended his playing career and the coach position at the then second division Chmel Blšany took over where he did not remain long, however. Then he trained also for only a few months the FK GGS Arma Ústí nad Labem.

In the summer of 1996, he became an assistant coach at Sparta Prague in January 1998, he took over the head coaching position and led the team to the Czech Championship. He repeated this success in the 1998/99 season, but then went to Viktoria Zizkov neighborhood, where he remained until 2002.

The next year and a half Zdeněk Ščasný worked for OFI Crete, before he took over as coach in October 2004 the Greek giants Panathinaikos. Already in February 2005 Ščasný was made redundant. He returned to the Czech Republic, from December 2005 to June 2007 he coached the team of FK SIAD Most. In September 2007 he took over the FK Mladá Boleslav. After a 1:4 defeat against Sparta Prague he resigned on 18 March 2008.

In early November 2008 took over Ščasný the team of FK Viktoria Zizkov.

Zdeněk Ščasnýs son Michal is a professional football player, his daughter Pavlina Ščasná is professional soccer player.
