Żelechowa

Żelechowa ( German Züllchow ) is a district of Stettin. Located on the Oder in the north of Szczecin village developed from the 19th century to a suburb of Stettin and was incorporated in 1939.

Geographical location

The district is located about 5 kilometers north of the city center of Szczecin on the western shore of the West Oder. The neighboring districts are north to the Oder - Golęcino Gocław (woman village - Gotzlow ) with the local situation Bałdynko ( Boll subsidence ) and south on the Oder Drzetowo - Grabowo ( Bredow Grabow ).

Through the district runs from southwest to northeast, the railway route Szczecin - Ziegenort with the station Szczecin Żelechowo, on the but held no more passenger traffic.

History

The first mention of the village dates back Zelechoa of 1159, when Bishop Adalbert of Pomerania to the monastery Rough his possessions confirmed. This was followed by further mentions in possession confirmations for the monastery, as Zelechowa 1168 by bishop Konrad I, as Zelechoa 1177 by Duke Bogislaw I. and as Celecha 1179 by Pope Alexander III.

From the 19th century Züllchow developed into a suburb of Stettin. Noteworthy as an example of upper-class home decor was a 1809/1810 which was built by the Szczecin Kaufmann Karl Gotthilf Tilebein and later extended villa; it was destroyed in 1944 by a bomb attack.

From 1831 to 1931 passed the Züllchower institutions, a diaconal institution. 1852-1855 built Hermann Bleibtreu in Züllchow Szczecin Portland Cement Factory, one of the first cement factories in Germany.

The community Züllchow developed into one of the most populous towns of Pomerania with up to 9075 inhabitants ( 1939). In 1939 she was incorporated as part of the case- law in the city of Szczecin - Stettin. Since then, the story Züllchows is part of the history of the city of Szczecin.
