Želivka

The Želivka ( German Zeliwka ) is a tributary of the Sázava in the Czech Republic.

It rises as Hejlovka at Vlásenice - Drbohlavy at an altitude of 631 m asl In the Sázava it opens after 98.9 kilometers at Soutice at an altitude of 312 m asl The river basin occupies 1,189 square kilometers.

Hejlovka first flows in an open valley to the north, after Pelhřimov it crosses forests. From the mouth of the creek Jankovský in the dam Sedlice ( Sedlická nádrž ) at kilometer 63 of the flow is referred to as Želivka. The now embarked direction is north-east.

Riverside is a major water reservoir, the dam Švihov was built, which supplies drinking water to Prague. To this end, in 1974 the city Dolni Kralovice, the spots Zahrádka well as the places Horni Kralovice, Příseka and Libčice were demolished and flooded 1975-1976 with the jam.
