Željko Samardžić

Željko Samardžić ( born October 3, 1955 in Mostar ) is a well-known Serbian singer in the former Yugoslavia. He now lives and works in Belgrade.

Biography

Željko Samardzic was born in the Herzegovinian city of Mostar. His father is a Montenegrin, Bosnian Serb from his mother a Ilici / Mostar. In Mostar Samardzic was known as a good imitator of folk singer Kemal Monteno. In 1991 when the civil war broke out, he fled first to Montenegro and later to Belgrade. He earned during this period his living by singing in nightclubs and coffee houses. Some businessmen discovered him and funded him an album with Marina and Aleksandar Radulovic Tucaković. At the festival of the " Pjesma Meditarana " in Budva, he sang Sipajte mi jos jedan viski ( Gives me another whiskey ) and thus began his Musikerkarierre.
