Żelmowo

Żelmowo ( German Sallmow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the gmina Radowo Małe (small Raddow ) in Lobeski powiat ( county Labes ).

Geographical location

Żelmowo lies in the valley of the Ukleja ( Ückeley ), 14 kilometers south of the former county town Resko (rain forest ) and is across the street connections from Radowo Małe (small Raddow, 4 km) and Gostomin ( Justemin, 3 km ), both located in the province road 147 to reach.

The nearest railway station is the present county seat Łobez ( Labes ) to the state railway line 202 Stargard - Gdansk. The previous narrow-gauge railway line of the rainforests tracks of rain forest (now Polish: Resko ) to Meesow ( Mieszewo ) with a stop in Sallmow no longer exists.

History

The documentary first mention of the village is to be found in 1284, when Prince Bogusław IV of Pomerania to the monastery Dünamünde (now Latvian: Daugavgrīva ) confirms the possession of Sallmow. By means of historical finds, but it is known that the site was inhabited before.

Sallmow to 1816 is an old Dewitz cal fief. (: Pogorzelica today Polish) created and in 1811 moved to seven Sallmower farmers to there in the 18th century, the Vorwerk Margarethenhof is. Until 1815 Sallmow also belonged to Dewitz 's ( Nauhard - Daberschen ) circle.

The Sallmower Good was in 1907 in possession of the Mach family. Captain A.D. Willibald Mach farmed the 749 -acre estate until 1945.

In 1871 Sallmow counted 397 inhabitants. The figure dropped to 1910 to 290, rose to 1933 on 326 and 1939, amounted to 336

By 1945 Sallmow belonged to the district of rain forest in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania. With the communities or agricultural estates Daberkow (now Polish: Dobrkowo ) Haseleu ( Orle ) Hoffelde ( Dargomyśl ) Margarethenhof ( Pogorzelica ) Meesow ( Mieszewo ) Roggow A ( Rogowo, in contrast to the southeast, Roggow B = Rogówko ) and Schöneu A and B ( Sienno Dolne and Sienno Górne ) formed Sallmow the District Roggow A. Last German head office was Captain aD Johann Georg von Dewitz in Meesow.

Roggow A was also the seat of the registry office, while the local court was in Pommern ( Resko ). Last German registrar was the Sallmower teacher Georg Peter.

Church

By 1945 Sallmow as Haseleu was (now Polish: Orle ) and Meesow ( Mieszewo ) a branch church in the parish Roggow A ( Rogowo ). Until 1784 there had still been a church. The parish was in the church Roggow A circle Daber ( Dobra ) Ostsprengel in the church of the Evangelical Church of Pomerania Old Prussian Union. The church patronage for Sallmow recently served Rittergutsbesitzer Willibald Mach. In 1940 the parish Roggow A counted a total of 1445 members of the congregation.

Today Żelmowo is predominantly inhabited by members of the Catholic Church. Rogowo is as before the vicarage, but now belongs to the deanery Resko (rain forest ) in the Archdiocese of Szczecin - Pomerania of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are cared for the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland from now competent parish of Holy Trinity Church in Stettin - Lastadie within the Diocese of Breslau.
