Zemitāni–Skulte Railway

The railway line Zemitani - Skulte ( unofficially: Riga Skulte ) is a railway line in Latvia. She has the Russian track gauge of 1524 mm, has a length of approximately 52 km ( from the Riga Central Station is 56 km) and is electrified. Owners and operators of the route is Latvijas dzelzceļš. The route is largely expanded doppelspurig, only a total of 17 long kilometers Mangaļi - Ziemeļblāzma, Lilaste Inčupe and Saulkrasti - Skulte are expanded lane.

History

1937, the section from Riga to Mangaļi was opened as part of the route Mangaļi - Rūjiena. In 1957, the route from Riga to Mangaļi was electrified. The section of Mangaļi after Zvejniekciems followed in 1971 and 1991, the portion of Zvejniekciems after Skulte. Due to the financial crisis after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the route of Skulte after Rūjiena 1996 was decommissioned.

Operation today

On the route operate out three different commuter rail lines from Riga. These three routes run to Carnikava, Saulkrasti or Skulte. On the route from Riga to run 16 pairs of trains per day Carnikava. The route from Riga to Saulkrasti is navigated by 14 pairs of trains. All the way from Riga to after Skulte is navigated by ten pairs of trains per day. The trip from Riga to Skulte takes about one hour and ten minutes. Relatively rare goods trains.
