Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives

Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives ( Zeri ) was created in 1994 by Gunter Pauli at the United Nations University (UNU ) with the support of the Japanese government to life. Three years before the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997, led Pauli - a Belgian economist with a track record as an entrepreneur in business, science, culture and education - a team of scientists in order to design a new business model that works without waste and emissions. Inspired by the way, how ecosystems work, suggested the research initiative to integrate nutrients, materials and energy so that our production and consumption system uses all available optimally. The potential of this innovation called Stressing Gunter Pauli, 2010, The Blue Economy launched to urge entrepreneurs around the world to take action.

Basic principle

One of the basic principles of Zeri is to understand waste as a resource. The only species on earth that produces something that does not help anyone, is human. 1996 decided the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Gunter Pauli, to call a Zeri Foundation with the purpose to help implement the design principles of nature in initial experiences. Meanwhile, there are 26 project offices throughout the world.

Today Zeri includes a world -wide network of creative people who are looking for solutions to the fundamental challenges of this world. Starting from ideas always based this process on science and publicly available information. The vision, which all have members in Zeri network, to find sustainable solutions for society and to constantly improve, starting with closed communities to companies, inspired by what is available locally is.

For Zeri, it is important to simultaneously work on many challenges at the same time to allow a synergy of many different solutions and organizational approaches. The sustainable solutions based on what is available locally, building on regional culture and skills, but also the inspiration of the ecosystem involving with what is locally available. " Business must respect first and foremost, the condition under which it is permitted to trade: Satisfy the needs of customers. Even governments are not exempt from this golden rule: Satisfy the needs of the taxpayer and the needs of the public. Unfortunately, the most common understandings of leadership based on power and control. However, to think further means for Zeri, to generate a future generation to work with young minds, who still believe in the fulfillment of impossible dreams. With the stimulation of creativity and innovation believes ZERI to awaken the creative potential of each individual and their unique contribution to their own development and the general public. "

To work with nature in harmony does not mean the science to give up and become a hermit must. Although science is the driving force for Zeri, but it is also part of the concept to demystify science and make it accessible for younger heads accessible by also extensively Zeri educational components to use (for example, in the fairy tale format) using the function modes of nature stories reveal. Zeri paves the way for the creation of a new strain of scientists and entrepreneurs who act in accordance with nature, rather than ignoring them or even to work against them. For ZERI the most important investment is in the creating a current and future generation, sustainable livelihoods ensures and thus is able to satisfy the basic needs of all living creatures on this earth.
