Zhao Mo

Zhao Mo (赵 眜: Triệu MAT), official title Wen di (文帝: Văn DJE " Emperor / King Wen " ), was the second ruler of the kingdom of Nan Yue ( Nam Việt ) and grandson of the kingdom 's founder Zhao Tuo ( of his sons had survived ). Who reigned since 137 BC, but came under the influence of the Han emperor Wu ( Hán Vũ DJE) ​​. He died in 122 BC and ended the kingdom as a province of Han Wudi in 111 BC

Grave system

The grave of Zhao Mo was discovered in 1983, nearly 20 meters under the "Elephant Hill" ( Xianggangshan ) in Guangzhou on a construction site for a hotel. The grave is 10.85 meters long and 12.43 meters wide. It is divided into seven parts: a pre-chamber, east and west wings, the main coffin chamber, east and west side chamber and a rear chamber (reservoir ). In the grave over 1000 offerings were found, to the discovered finds included a chariot, gold and silver vessels, musical instruments ( including Chinese chimes and sound stone game), the complete Jadegewand (whose Jadeplättchen been linked with silk threads ) and human sacrifice ( 15 people were alive with him buried as servants during the death). It is also the only stone chamber grave of the Western Han Dynasty wall paintings.

The grave was also home to the oldest Chinese grave discovered in an " imperial seal " ( xi): the seal with the name " Zhao Mo", it explains the stately corpse to the " Emperor Wen " (Who di ), which indicates that he is looked at the same rank as the Han emperors.

Besides Chinese artifacts pieces were found from the steppes and Iranian and Hellenized regions of Central Asia: a Persian silver container in the grave is the earliest discovered to date import product in China.

The Museum of King of Nanyue from the time of the Western Han Dynasty (English Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King) on Jiefang road is located on the tomb of King Wen.
