The Zhejiang Polytechnic University (Chinese浙江 工业 大学, transcribed: Zhejiang Daxue Gongye, official name in English: Zhejiang University of Technology, Order Code: . Zhe GONGDA ) is a state university in the province of Zhejiang, with headquarters in the capital of the province, Hangzhou, with a focus on science and technology. History

The Zhejiang Polytechnic University is as integral main university under the direct jurisdiction of the provincial government of Zhejiang. It was founded in 1953. Precursors can be traced back to dieZhejiang industrial school medium classification, founded in 1910. Approximately between June 1953 and June 1958, she was known as the Hangzhou School of Chemical Engineering. From June 1958 to August 1960 she served as Zhejiang Experts College of Chemical Engineering, then from February 1960 to October 1980 as Zhejiang College of Chemical Engineering, February 1978 to February 1993 as "Zhejiang College of Engineering" and then from December 1993 to the present as Polytechnic Zhejiang University.

In the further historical development there were some splits and mergers. The Academy for the cadres of the economic administration of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou Technical School for shipping, and the Zhejiang technical school of building materials were separated in 1994. Between 1997 and 2001, they were re-integrated into the Polytechnic University of Zhejiang. The university has developed into a university teaching and research of significant and widespread impact within China.
