Zinaida Volkova

Zinaida Lvovna Volkova (Russian Зинаида Львовна Волкова; born Bronstein, Est Moglina; * 14 Märzjul / March 27 1901greg, Irkutsk Governorate, Russian Empire, .. † January 5, 1933 in Berlin) was a Russian revolutionary and the oldest daughter of Leon Trotsky.

Life

Zinaida was built in 1901 as the first child of Alexandra Sokolovskaya ( 1872-1938 ) and Leo Bronstein ( 1879-1940 ), the later revolutionary leader Trotsky born. The couple had previously been banished in the year in the province Irkutsk in Siberia. Since their parents are politically engaged intensively, she grew up mostly with his grandparents, David and Anna Bronstein on.

After the October Revolution of 1917, she married Sachar Moglin, with whom she had a daughter, Alexandra Moglina ( 1923-1989 ). After the separation she went a marriage with Platon Ivanovich Volkov ( 1898-1936 ). Their son Vsevolod " Esteban " Volkov was born in 1926 to the world. Platon Volkov was exiled to the seizure of power because of Trotskyism Stalin to Siberia. 1928 used Zinaida three months her dying of tuberculosis sister Nina Nevelson (* 1902). She herself was also infected with the disease.

In 1931 she received permission to leave with her son after Prinkipo, the place of exile of her father. This she sent to Berlin, where the sufferers among others, Franz and Alexandra Pfemfert and her half-brother, Leon Sedov (1906-1938) was supplied. Through therapy in the known psychiatrist Arthur Kronfeld, the Alexandra Ramm - Pfemfert Trotsky had suggested she tried to get her serious mental problems (depression, nightmares, hallucinations) in the handle. Having been cut off by the withdrawal of Soviet citizenship the way back to her husband and daughter, she committed suicide out of despair in 1933.

In the following years were Sinaidas parents, her two half-brothers, her husband and her ex- husband murdered by Stalinists. Her son Esteban survived in May 1940 by chance a raid Stalinist agent on the house of Trotsky in Mexico City. He later headed the local Trotsky Museum.
