Zinovy Reichstein

Zinovy ​​Reichstein (* 1961 ) is a Russian -born Canadian mathematician who deals with algebra, algebraic geometry and algebraic groups.

Reichstein was established in 1988 with Michael Artin at Harvard University PhD (The Behavior of Stability under Equivariant Maps) He was at the University of California, Berkeley and is a professor at the University of British Columbia.

In 1997, he led with Joe Buhler the concept of Essential dimension, initially but since then extended for extensions of finite fields, among others, Reichstein itself to other algebraic objects. You specify the minimum number of independent parameters to define the object.

In 2012 he became a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. In 2013 he received the Jeffery -Williams Prize. In 2010 he was " Invited Speaker " at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Hyderabad (Essential dimension).

He is co-editor of the journal Transformation Groups.
