Zipoetes I of Bithynia

Zipoites (Greek Ζιποίτης; * 356 BC; † 280 BC) 328-280 BC ruler of Bithynia. Zipoites came in by Alexander the Great introduced the decline phase of the Persian dominion to power and reigned as nearly independent king.

His father Bas, whose successor Zipoites 328 BC, had exercised his power largely independent of the Persian Empire. In attempts to extend its sphere of influence at the expense of the Greek cities in the region, Zipoites failed at first I on Diadochi Antigonus, allied himself but soon with him. Against the Diadochi Lysimachus was Zipoites other hand militarily successful. After winning a battle he took in the fall of 297 BC as the first ruler Bithynian officially the royal title, but shortly afterwards he gave it to his son Nicomedes I.. Shortly after the Battle of Kurupedion (281 BC) died Zipoites.
