Zlaté Piesky

Zlaté piesky (literally "golden sands " ) is a lake and recreation area in the Slovak capital Bratislava. It is located in the north- east of Bratislava in Ružinov district.

The lake is 54 acres and max. 11 feet deep, with a small island in the middle. On the north side there is a 400 meter long and 30 meter wide beach with accommodation and sports facilities, a great campsite called Intercamp and several restaurants. The lake and its surroundings is the largest leisure and sports center in Bratislava. In the summer, often various concerts or sporting events. Visitors can enjoy various sports such as swimming, rowing, volleyball, street ball, mini golf, tennis and others.

1976 crashed a Il -18 of CSA go-around in the Bratislava airport in the lake. 77 of 79 people lost their lives.
