ZlÃn Region
The Zlin region, Czech: Zlín, located to the east of the Czech Republic and is bordered to the east of Slovakia, national level in South Moravian Region and the regions of Olomouc and Moravia- Silesia. On the area of 3964 km ² live about 590.000 inhabitants (149 inhabitants / km ²). In the region there are 307 municipalities, 30 cities. Council is based in Zlín.

Landscape
The area is mostly mountainous, down to the level that runs along the river Morava and in the Moravian Slovakia in the area of Uherské Hradiště. In the north are the Moravian- Silesian Beskids, to the east lies the Javorníky and to the south the White Carpathians, also form the natural border with Slovakia extend. Follow To the south Vsetínská hornatina ( " Vsetín mountainous land " ) and Vizovická Highlands ( " Vizovice Bergland " ), in the southwest Chřiby. The soil is poor in minerals and humus. Only in the valleys of the rivers you will find fertile ground. 49 % of the land is used for agriculture. In the region there are some great landscape protection areas, especially Beskids and the White Carpathians, which are also protected by the UNESCO. The euro region White Carpathians is to promote general cooperation in the conservation area.
Demography
However, the birth balance was positive in recent years, the overall trend since 1994 is negative. The average age is 39 years.
Economy
The circle is one of the regions with a rather outdated infrastructure, mainly due to the resolution of large farms and poor accessibility of the previously strong raw materials and intermediate products processing industry, which accounts for a share of 18 % of companies in the manufacturing industry. It is all about farms with processing of rubber and plastic (2% ), metal processing (27%), electrical engineering ( 14%), engineering ( 3%) and the food industry ( 5%). Negative affects also the low level of modernization of the machinery. The gross domestic product of 175 614 crowns per inhabitant. This is generated by 122 912 companies, of which employ 14,714 company employees. In companies with more than 25 employees, more than half of all workers are employed.
Labor market
The level of employment grew over 2001 by 1.5%. The average salary is 13 843 CZK to 2000 CZK and is about below the national average. Unemployment is at 10.2%.
Social institutions
In 339 kindergartens, 237 primary schools, 14 secondary schools, 51 specialized secondary schools and 35 vocational schools to prepare them for working life. In addition, 11 post-secondary schools and the Tomas Bata University in Zlín with five faculties. Come 312 inhabitants in the county is one doctor. For the care of sick care 11 hospitals with 3,375 beds.
