Zoltán Fábri

Zoltan Fabri (* October 15, 1917 in Budapest, † August 23, 1994 ) was a Hungarian film director.

Life

Fabri initially studied art and then entered into a theater and film studies at. He worked as a set designer, actor and director in the theater. He also illustrated numerous books. In 1947 he became a theater ensemble member of the Hungarian National Theatre in Budapest to a directorship at the Magyar. His first film he made in 1951. He turned 1951-1983 a total of 22 films and received numerous awards at international film festivals for his work. At the Berlinale Silver Bear in 1982 for his screenplay received requiem for his film. His most famous film was made in 1969 by Ferenc Molnár's novel The Boys of Paul Street. For this film, he received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. He received a second Oscar nomination in 1979 for his film The Hungarians.

In Hungary he received in 1953, 1955 and 1970, the Kossuth Prize.
