Zoran Stanković

Zoran Stanković ( born November 9, 1954 in Tegovište, community Vladičin Han) is a Serbian doctor and politician.

He studied medicine with a focus on Forensic Medicine at the University of Niš and his doctorate in 1997 with a thesis on the medico-legal assessment of war dead. He worked as a military doctor, was head of the forensic department of the Military Medical Academy, received a promotion to major general and was from 2002 to 2005 director of the Belgrade military hospital. He was a member of the Serbian - Montenegrin Truth Commission.

From October 2005 he was Minister of Defence of Serbia and Montenegro, then to 2007 of Serbia. On March 14, 2011, appointed as successor to the retiring Tomica Milosavljevic for Health Minister of his country. He belongs to no party, for the office of Minister of Health he was proposed by the G17 Plus.

Stanković described himself publicly as a friend of Ratko Mladić and visited this after his arrest in May 2011 while in custody.
