Zōshigaya Cemetery

The cemetery Zōshigaya (Japanese雑司ヶ谷 霊園, Zōshigaya canals ) is a municipal cemetery in Minami- Ikebukuro district of Toshima, Tokyo. The 115,400 square meter site, is known for the many famous people who have here found their final resting place.

History

The cemetery was opened in response to a Kremationsverbot the Meiji government of 1873 on 1 September 1874. For the administration of the Tokyo prefecture was in charge from 1876.
