Practice

Zui Quan covers a range of techniques and forms, as well as a martial philosophy that mimics the movements of a drunkard. The positions caused by the inertia and weight of the fighter. The imitation is generally formed by tumbling and a certain kind of flowing movements. Zui Quan is considered one of the harder -to-learn Wushu styles because of the need for powerful joints and fingers. Although practitioners of Zui Quan are often portrayed of as actually drunk in literature and film, these techniques are highly acrobatic and skilled and require a high degree of balance and coordination. If a drunk person actually run this style of fighting, it would probably hurt.

Zui Quan within the Chinese martial arts

Many traditional Chinese martial arts use these techniques and fighting philosophy. For example:

  • Some types of Chai Li Fo contain " drunken " style. The drunken techniques of Chai Li Fo are feints, explosive power, tumbling movements and other various distraction techniques.
  • Monkey Kung Fu contains a variation of monkey style called " Drunken Monkey ". This modification includes attacks on neck, eyes and abdomen as well as tumbling and falling techniques. It also includes a lot of missteps in order to create the appearance of vulnerability, and uses many unbalanced strokes. The fighter waddles, makes wavering steps and sometimes drops to the floor, where he lies on her stomach and waits for the opponents. If the opponent then gets too close to him, he launches a devastating attack on the knee and groin of the opponent.
  • Modern Wushu contains some as " drunken style " known Aufführarten. However, these have no connection to the drunken species from the traditional Chinese martial arts.
