Zuiderparkstadion

The Zuiderparkstadion ( German South Park Stadium ) is the former home of the Dutch football club ADO Den Haag.

History

Twenty years after the founding of the club and playing in various sports venues drew ADO Den Haag on 18 October 1925 in the then newly Zuiderpark stadium. The stadium was temporarily abandoned shortly before the end of World War II, as the club does not have the necessary financial means had to keep the stadium repaired. On the pitch, even horses were grazing.

After the severe winter of 1946/47, the plant was in a catastrophic state. Only a grandstand roof was still usable. It then plans were implemented to renovate the stadium and expand. On 9 August 1949, the first match between ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord Rotterdam took place. In 1957, the South Park was expanded to 25,000 spectators and in 1967 to 28,500. In the years 1972/73 we built a new clubhouse with modern facilities such as a restaurant.

On 7 November 1993, the North Stand was named Aad Mansveldtribune and 1994, the West Stand was opened under the name Jan Knijnenburg Gezinstribune. In 2001 it was renamed in Hyundaitribune.

With the last game on April 22, 2007, the ADO Den Haag adopted from the sports venue. From the following 2007/08 season, the club played in the newly built ADO Den Haag Stadion. In June 2007, the demolition of the stadium began.
