The Zurich Selnau station ( 424 m above sea level. M. ) is a station on the Sihltal Zurich Uetliberg Bahn between the neighborhoods and City Werd of the Swiss city of Zurich. The station is located since 1990 in the SZU tunnel under the river Sihl.

History

The old station was taken Selnau 1875 as overground railway terminus along with the track Selnau - Uetliberg Uetliberg in the former operation. 1892 followed the route Selnau Langenberg via Knives of Sihltalbahn.

The lack of direct connections to Zurich main station proved in the course of decades as a big disadvantage. This meant that in 1990 closed with the introduction of the S -Bahn Zurich and the Zurich Transport Network of the old above-ground railway terminus and was replaced by the newly built underground through station with extension to the Zurich main station. He came a little to lie north, what better connections allowed to the city center.

Old Train Station

The old station was created in 1875 as a " temporary " terminus of Uetlibergbahn on the area of ​​urban lumber yard. The site has not been purchased, but rented through a lease from the city. The head station originally comprised three operating railroad and the depot system the OA.

In 1922 the jurisdiction joined the station in connection with the establishment of the receiving company for the Uetliberg railway ( BZUe ). Now the staff of the SiTb was in charge of the station, which was placed in front of the OA. The abortion facility was renewed. In 1929, the lighting of the signals and switch lanterns was electrified.

In 1951, the tracks were extended, the BZUe got her own interim Perron. Also, the signal box was renewed and replaced with an electrical switch factory integration.

In 1978, the platform roof of Sihltalperrons was replaced.

The station was closed in 1990, dismantled the railway tracks and returned to the area of the city.

The old station building was then converted for different purposes. Thus was opened in 1992 in the former station buffet Moods Jazz Club, which held there until 2000 some 1700 concerts with a total of 140,000 visitors. In 2000, the old station was demolished and Selnau created in its place a residential development.

Today's Train Station

Operationally, it is a simple stop with central platform that was built under the river bed of the river Sihl. The southern Sunrise is located opposite the former railway station in the Stauffacherbrücke. The northern rise is surrounded by the water of the river Sihl and leads to the Sihlbrücke between Stauffacher and Sihlporte.
