Zwin

Zwin ( the Zwin ), a watercourse in Belgium ( province of West Flanders) and the Netherlands ( Zeeland ), is an ancient estuary into the North Sea. Until he silted up in the 16th century, he was a 1134 incurred as a result of a storm surge sea arm, which extended as far as Bruges and this important trading city in Flanders access offered via the channelized river Reie to the sea.

Zwin is called in German and the Swin and, with around 150 hectares, the largest nature reserve of the Belgian coast. Zwin is particularly known for its great variety of species of native birds.
