Zygmunt Krauze

Zygmunt Krauze ( born September 19, 1938 in Warsaw) is a Polish composer and pianist.

Krauze studied piano with Maria and composition with Kazimierz Sikorski Wiłkomirska at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. 1966-1967, thanks to the French government scholarship, he studied in Paris with Nadia Boulanger.

Krauze made ​​his debut as a soloist 1963. 1967 he founded " Warsztat Muzyczny " ( Musical Workshop ), and went for 20 years with the group. Krauze also appeared as a soloist with many orchestras and conductors such as Gary Bertini Jan Krenz, Leif Segerstam, Kazimierz Kord, Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Bohdan Wodiczko, Paul Zukofsky, Ernest Bour, Hans Zender, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Luca Pfaff.

1974-1975 he lived in Berlin as a fellow of the DAAD. 1882 at the invitation of Pierre Boulez, he worked at IRCAM ( Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique - Research Institute of Acoustics / Music ) in Paris.

He has lectured in many European cities (Darmstadt, Basel, Stockholm ), in the United States at Indiana University in Bloomington, Yale University, New Heaven, Cornell University, Ithaca, University of Southern California in Santa Barbara, as well as in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe ), Israel and Hong Kong.

He was appointed in 1996 to the Eminent Corresponding Professor at the University Keimiung ( Taegu, South Korea).

He became professor of composition at the Music Academy in Łódź, 2006, the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw in 2002.

At the congress of the International Society for Contemporary Music ( ISCM ) in Frankfurt in 1977, he was elected president, an honorary member in 1999.

In 2007 he became an officer of the French Legion of Honour.
