Zygmunt Noskowski

Zygmunt Noskowski ( born 2 May 1846 in Warsaw, † July 23, 1909 ) was a Polish composer, conductor and music educator.

Life and work

Zygmunt Noskowski Stanisław Moniuszko studied with. He worked as a teacher at the Institute for the Blind of Warsaw and invented a notation for the blind. After further studies at Friedrich Kiel in Berlin, he was Director of Music in Konstanz.

After his return to Warsaw he became conductor of the Musical Society in 1881 and 1888 teacher at the conservatory. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Ludomir Rozycki, Grzegorz Fitelberg Apolinary Szeluto and Karol Szymanowski.

Since 1904 he was assistant conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic, since 1906, also assistant conductor of the municipal opera. In addition to operas, operettas and a ballet he composed three symphonies and several symphonic poems, overtures, chamber music, piano music, choral music and songs.
