Zygmunt Zimowski

Zygmunt Zimowski ( born April 7, 1949 in Kupienin, Poland ) is a Curia, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Zygmunt Zimowski joined in 1967 the seminary of the diocese of Tarnów, and received on 27 May 1973 when the Bishop of Tarnów, Jerzy Karol Ablewicz, the sacrament of Holy Orders. Then he was vicar in Stary Sacz. Zimowski studied from 1975 to 1978 at the Catholic University of Lublin and earned a licentiate in dogmatics. From 1978 to 1982 he studied at the Leopold -Franzens University in Innsbruck. Zimowski was "The Influence of the Council Fathers of the East and the Orthodox observers to the theology of " Lumen Gentium " " PhD in 1982 with Professor Raymund Schwager with a dogmatic thesis with the title of Doctor of Theology.

On February 1, 1983 Zygmunt Zimowski entered the service of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On April 14, 1988, Pope John Paul II appointed pontifical honor Kaplan and 10 July 1999 Papal honor prelates. Zimowski was postulator of the beatification or canonization of Karolina Kózka, Roman and Mary Sitko Julietta Ritz. In addition, Zygmunt Zimowski worked at the Catechism of the Catholic Church with in Polish language and was active in the Polish section of Radio Vatican. He also taught at this time ecclesiology at the Catholic University of Lublin and at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw -.

On 28 March 2002, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Radom. He received his episcopal consecration on 25 May 2002, the then Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and later Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. ; Co-consecrators were the apostolic nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Jozef Kowalczyk, and the former Bishop of Radom, Edward Henryk Materski. Zygmunt Zimowski to chose the motto Non ministrari sed ministrare! ( " Do not allow to serve, but serve! "), Which is taken from the Gospel according to Matthew ( Mt 20:28 EU). In the Polish Episcopal Conference Zimowski was president of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith. He was also a member of the Permanent Council of the Polish Bishops' Conference and a member of the Commission for Ecumenism. In addition, Zygmunt Zimowski was a delegate for the pastoral care of migrants in Poland.

On April 18, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. President of the Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care and awarded him the personal title of archbishop.
