1911 Copa del Rey
The Copa del Rey in 1911 was the ninth edition of the Spanish Football Cup competition Copa del Rey.
The competition took place until 15 April 1911 by the 9th. In order to prevent re- separation in several tournaments as mentioned in the last issue, was the claims of unsatisfied teams that called for a host stadium in the Defender upheld. So were all the games in the Estadio Jolaseta (home stadium of Athletic) in the municipality of Getxo in Vizcaya region ( in Basque: Bizkaia ), near the Basque capital of Bilbao, so not for the first time in Madrid instead. At the tournament a total of 13 teams should participate, but had only eleven, since real crew of the Engineering Academy of Madrid ( Academia de Ingenieros ) Club Deportivo de La Coruña and canceled it just before the discharge, on the grounds that they were against the use of foreign players.

At the tournament finally took 11 teams participate: host Athletic Bilbao, Bilbao (not to be confused with the Bilbao FC ) and Real Sociedad de Fútbol from the Basque Country, FC Barcelona and Espanol de Barcelona, Catalonia, Sociedad Gimnástica Española from Madrid, Real Club Fortuna de Vigo Galicia, Santander Foot -ball Club of Cantabria, and the football teams in the artillery Academy of Segovia ( Academia de Artillería ) and the cavalry Academy of Valladolid ( Academia de Caballería ) of Castile and Leon and the Infantry Academy of Toledo ( Academia de Infantería ) from Castile -La Mancha.
Elimination Round
After the match between Athletic Bilbao and Fortuna de Vigo, Real Sociedad de Fútbol protested against the victory of Athletic, as two English players had accumulated that had cast out Real sociedads view against the Spanish residency requirements. They therefore demanded a rematch, but what the Spanish federation refused. In response, Real Sociedad departed immediately and was also supported by other clubs that threatened their departure, so that Athletic Bilbao not started the two questionable players in the rest of the tournament. The game against Fortuna they were not repeated, however.
Quarterfinals
After the defeat against FC Barcelona, Gimnástica de Madrid complained about the preparation of the Barça goalkeeper René, so that the Spanish federation positioning on a range Replay. Semifinal

In addition, Athletic defended his original "unofficial" title from the previous year's tournament in San Sebastián.
